Taking Control of the Classifieds
By David Seitz

Note: Bob McElwain ran his highly successful Sites Tips and Tricks website for many years.  When he closed the site to pursue other activities, he granted permission to reprint his articles.  Some are very outdated now, but there are so many gems of knowledge that we decided to publish the enitre series on Smart Web Center, just as they were originally published.

I suggest you make it a point to visit each of the following classified sites each week to update your ads. Updating ensures they are moved to the top of the listings again, especially true with Yahoo. You can log in with a member name and password for most classified sites to update your ads. One trick many marketers use is to delete all ads and resubmit every week.

This approach can draw a steady flow of new leads for as long as you employ the technique. The key is to stick with the schedule and keep posting each and every week.

My top producers are:

If you post your ads to all of these sites on a regular basis, you should have a steady stream of inquiries to your ads. If you have America Online, I suggest trying their classifieds also, they are not free but they are inexpensive and effective!

To help you in your classifieds posting adventure, try these utilities to cut down on your posting time. I use all three and have had great results. They save me time, and we all know time is money!
