No sneaking your blog’s URL into your discussion, no hoping to intrigue people enough to check you out, no wondering if you are going to be flamed for committing the unspeakable crime of trying to promote your blog. You can outright ask people to visit, blow your horn, explain what your blog is about and all without feeling kind of sneaky about it.
To post to the discussion, you have to be registered on BlogCatalog.com. Submitting your blog is really easy, and they are very fast on the approval process.
Here’s a few guidelines that will help to make sure that you are accepted:
- You can only submit a blog.
- Your blog cannot be solely for commercial purposes.
- Spam blogs are not accepted.
- Your blog needs to have enough content to make it truly valuable.
- Pornographic blogs are not accepted.
- Make sure that you add a link to BlogCatalog.com
They have a little button or icon that you can use to link back to them from your blog. You can also add a link to your blogroll or your links.
They really are fast on their approval process. So fast that when I submitted this blog, they arrived before I could add my link to them. So, of course, they declined my submission. I simply replied to the decline notice and told them where my links were. They approved my blog the next day.
This is a really nice blog directory. When you visit other people’s blog profiles, your icon is shown in a recently viewed section. This has the effect of making you want to visit profiles and join in discussions because people can see what you’ve been looking at.
