>> A Simple Explanation of Blog Pings
A Simple Explanation of Blog Pings The easiest way to explain pinging is to compare it to submissions to search engines. There are only two ways that search engines learn about the existence of a web site: 1.) You submit your website to the search engine. It goes to your website and indexes it. 2.) The search engine finds your from a link on another website. It goes to your website and indexes it. Blogs have their own set of search engines and RSS Aggregators. RSS aggregators are simply content readers. You don't submit your blog to blog search engines or RSS Aggregators. You ping them. This is the same as submitting your site to the search engines. The difference is that blog search engines and aggregators do not go out and crawl the Internet. You have to ping them whenever you update your blog. There are ping services available for bloggers that will ping a list of blog search engines. You ping the service and they ping the blog search engines they include in their service. Here are a couple of free blog ping services: Ping-o-matic With the Ping-o-matic service, you simply go to their site and use their online form to ping your post. King Ping King Ping has an online form too or you can add it to your blog so every new post is automatically pinged. |
